Registering with the municipality in Eindhoven

One of the very first things to arrange when you move to the Netherlands. Here is how it works and how to get your BSN.

Why this matters

If you stay longer than four months you must register at the municipality where you live. Registration gives you a citizen service number (BSN), needed for work, a bank account, insurance and a doctor.

What you need

Step by step

1

Make an appointment

Book online with the municipality of Eindhoven or your local town hall.

2

Gather your documents

Arrange legalisation and translation early, this causes most delays.

3

Attend in person

Everyone moving to the address usually has to attend.

4

Receive your BSN

You receive your BSN immediately or within a few days by post.

Good to know: book as soon as you have an address, waiting times can be several weeks.
